Targa Newfoundland By Adamo Di Carlo and Jeff Hanning

Cabot Strait, Sept 12, 2008.  We are on the ferry (Joey Smallwood) with the Alfa tucked below decks.  We have met up with other Targa teams that range from organized and seasoned Targa participants to just real enthusiasts.  It does seem however, that we were the only team with enough balls to drive our car out from home base!  In our case 1200 miles so far.  Everyone else who is on the ship trailered their cars.  One other possible snag is emerging about our helmets.  Some of the other Targa participants seem to believe that we need Snell 2005 M rated helmets.  I would dispute this as I read the rules and talked to our coordinator and as a result understood we need simply M rated helmets.  Keep posted for additional rants after we hit scrutineering.  Ah well, let's enjoy the ride for now - see me looking at the hatch closing just before departure.

On the way, Jeff recommended that we stop in Bedeck where the Alexander G Bell museum has some other interesting works by the man best know for inventing the telephone.  Below is a picture of the HA4 hydrofoil boat in the museum, powered by 2 V12 motors!

Here are a few links to some video of the road to the ferry on our last day in Nova Scotia.
